TEENS UNITED LIVE 3rd ANNUAL CONCERT
Teens United Live was created by four Santa Monica teens to help ensure that opportunities for musical education are not sacrificed due to financial hardship. Now in its third year, TEENS UNITED LIVE has brought together musicians from schools across Los Angeles to help raise money for teens in need.
When they were 9th graders at Crossroads School, Bella Porter, Sol Was, Taylor Mackall and Alec Singer were disheartened to learn of drastic cuts in LAUSD’s music programs. Enlisting help from musician friends all over Los Angeles, they organized a concert in 2012 at the Roxy, featuring 35 teens playing a revue of great classic songs, and raised over $12,000 for the Foshay Learning Center’s Music Program. In 2013, they mounted a second concert and this time raised over $20,000 for the Harmony Project, a program that gives kids from inner city urban areas the opportunity to play in orchestras and jazz bands, keeping them in school and off the streets.
The 3rd annual TEENS UNITED LIVE bill will include musicians from Crossroads, Harvard-Westlake, LACHSA, Colburn, LACES, Brentwood, Windward and others, featuring exceptional talent in a multitude of musical styles. This year’s concert will benefit CEE, the Coalition for Engaged Education, which helps kids in the Lennox area of Los Angeles receive the quality education that is their birthright. Please join Bella, Sol, Taylor and Alec for the 2014 TEENS UNITED LIVE event, presented at the stunning Moss Theatre in the Herb Alpert Education Village at New Roads School, 3131 Olympic Blvd, on Saturday, September 6th at 7pm.
